May 28th, 2007 • June Events Update

Hello everyone,
Well summer is upon us and things are gearing up at the lake. We have two events scheduled for June.

June 10th - AGM
June 16th - Boat Driver Clinic

The Kipabiskau Water Sports Club Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday, June 10th at 12:00 noon at the Kip Hall. We hope you can make it to the meeting to discuss Club business and elections for the executive board. Your support is appreciated. The agenda will be emailed out to you in advance.

The KWSC Boat Driver Clinic will be held on Saturday, June 16th. We have had many people ask us about a boat driving clinic and are pleased to announce that Troy Monz will be instructing the course. He will be bringing the Waterski and Wakeboard Saskatchewan boat out to Kip so that everyone will be able to have hands on driving experience. Some of the things Troy will be teaching are boating safety, how to properly drive towed water sports (skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and kneeboarding), how to dock a boat, how to determine the proper towing speed for each discipline, and many other need-to-know skills for proper boat handling. We really encourage everyone to sign up for this course, whether you are an experienced driver or a beginner. There is lots to learn about boat driving and handling. The cost for this course is $30 which covers Troy, the boat, and gas. The clinic starts at 9:00 sharp.

Please email me at leighestabrook@yahoo.com to confirm your spot ASAP. Space will be limited and we need to know how many participants we will have well in advance.

Regards,
Leigh Estabrook

Mar 8th, 2007 • KWSC Logo Challenge

To all KWSC members;

Hey everyone! It?s that time of the year again, the days are getting longer, the weather a little bit nicer, and soon the ice on our beloved Kipabiskau will melt and we will be back on the water! With the start of this new season we on the KWSC executive board want to have a fresh new look and we want all of you involved!

What we are proposing is a Logo Challenge! We want KWSC members young and old to come up with a new logo for our club, put their ideas down on paper and mail them in. The chosen logo designer will win a free KWSC competitive family membership for the year!

Now for all who would like to enter a logo here are the terms:
- All logos must be in by March 23, 2007
- You are allowed to enter more than one logo per person

Mar 5th, 2007 • Kipabiskau Family and Friends Donation Request

Dear Kipabiskau Family and Friends,

On behalf of the Kipabiskau Water Sports Club and Water Ski and Wakeboard Saskatchewan it is my great pleasure to announce that Kipabiskau Regional Park and Lake will be the host lake for the 2007 Saskatchewan Provincial Wakeboard Championships and Flying Beaver Big Air Competition. This is a great honor for the Kipabiskau Water Sports Club and I know we will make it a great success.

The Championships and Big Air Competition will take place in front of the main beach and hall area starting on Friday July 20 and ending on Sunday July 22. Some of the best riders in Canada in all age categories will be in attendance. You do not want to miss it. Besides the great wakeboarding entertainment there will be an all day barbecue with refreshments available to feed your hunger and thirst during this all weekend event.

To host an event such as the Provincial Wakeboard Championships there is a large volunteer and monetary demand on the KWSC. For those of you who may not know what it costs to host this kind event the 2006 Wakeboard Provincial Championship budget came in just under $20,000 and we are working on finding ways to reduce this amount. On that note however, we are looking for donations, sponsorships and of course volunteers. Without the help of the community the KWSC will not be able to put on a top notch competition.

Donations are welcome in the form of money or volunteering in planning and or during the competition. Monetary donations should be made out to the Kipabiskau Water Sports Club and can be sent to:

Michael Grier
486 Adams Cres.
Prince Albert, Sask
S6V 7J6

For more information on donations and sponsorship levels please see the KWSC Website at www.kipwsc.com.

Your support will not go unnoticed as a personal thank you will be given over the address system during the course of the 2007 Saskatchewan Wakeboard Provincial Championships and Flying Beaver Big Air Competition.

Your support is greatly appreciated and an event such as this would not be possible without the participation of the surrounding community at the Kipabiskau Regional Park.

Sincerely,

Mike Greier
VP Special Events, KWSC

Feb 21st, 2007 • 2007 Wakeboard Officiating Clinic

Hello KWSC Membership,

I've recently recieved an email from Sheri Seiferling from Water Ski and Wakeboard Saskatchewan regarding the 2007 Wakeboard Officiating Clinic. She is hoping to have the Clinic in Saskatoon on the weekend of April 28. I encourage you to come join me in class. I don't know costs or any other specifics but I will let you know as soon as I know.

IMPORTANT!! This clinic is not only for those who want to learn to officiate. If you are willing to expand your knowledge of the sport of wakeboarding this is an excellent method to get to know tricks better as well as understand better how you are judged during an event. Learning the technical aspects of the tricks you throw can make you a better rider.

I hope to see many of you in class with me on the date of the clinic and I will keep you posted of any information I'm made aware of. I will also get it posted on the Kip website (www.kipwsc.com) when I have some concrete dates, times and costs.

We're always in need of volunteers at the KWSC. If you are interested please let me know and I will get you working on something. We have a very busy summer with all our annual activities plus the 2007 Saskatchewan Wakeboard Provincial Championships on July 20-22. See you all there.

Mike Greier
VP Special Events, KWSC

Feb 15th, 2007 • Newest KWSC Executive Member

The Kipabiskau Water Sports Club is pleased to welcome Ashley Brooks to our executive team. Ashley is currently attending the University of Saskatchewan majoring in Accounting with a strong interest in Marketing as well. Ashley's family recently acquired a cabin at Kip and her love for the place has grown fast. She will be assuming the role of VP Secretary to help relieve the duties of Leigh Estabrook, our very busy, diligent, and valued treasurer. Welcome aboard Ashley!

If you are interested in becoming involved we are always short volunteers. Organizing events for our club is a 12 month job, not just the summer months. Please contact us and we will gladly work with you to find something that suits your interests, schedule, and location.

Sept 20th, 2006 • Summer's End

To our Membership, Sponsors, Colleagues, and Friends in the Sport,
I hope you all had a wonderful and successful summer. The Kipabiskau Water Sports Club ventured into unfamiliar territory from start to finish and in review we are quite satisfied with our accomplishments.

I have many sincere apologies to make. For anyone who tried emailing this account from June 1st until now, I probably didn't get your email. I could not find internet at all this summer between working at work and working at Kip, and when I finally returned to my computer my account had crashed and I lost everything.

In the near future we will be compiling the summer's stories and delivering them to you in our fall newsletter. We also have several major announcements to reveal for the 2007 season.

Thank you all for your dedication and support. We appreciate you all.
Sincerely,

Kyle Nontell
KWSC Inc. President

May, 5th, 2006 • Wakeboard Tourny Music

Hey Everyone,
Erin Brooks has gracious volunteered to make some cd's for the KWSC wakeboard tournament this summer. We all know how important good music is at an event like this.... which is where you all come in. If you could please take a few minutes (or several days) and make a list of songs (including the artists) and forward them to Erin. Keep in mind there will be some kids around so excessive profanity is maybe not so great. Think of the people that will be at this tournament; punk rockers, country bumpkins, hippity hoppers and everything in between. And I personally think the type of music during the tournament will be different than the music we play to accompany our drinking afterwards.

Keep in mind Erin may not know all of you so to avoid your lists being discarded with the junk mail make sure to use an appropriate subject.

Here's my list for now that I will surely add to in the near future.

  • Holla Back Girl - Gwen Stefani
  • Raise a little hell - Trooper
  • Boys in the Bright White Sports Car - Trooper
  • The Last Saskatchewan Pirate - Arrogant Worms
  • Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
  • Hey Yeah - Outcast
  • Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson
  • Time to Switch To Whiskey - Corb Lund Band
  • Party at My House - MxPx
  • Play that Funky Music - Wild Cherry
  • I think the World Needs A Drink - Teri Clark
  • Crabbukkit - K-os
  • Love Song - K-os
  • B-Boy Stance - K-os
  • Build me up Butter Cup - The Foundations
  • 40oz to Freedom - Sublime
  • Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks
  • Alcohol - Brad Paisley
  • Ain't Going Down 'Till the Sun Comes Up - Garth Brooks
  • The Arguement - Fugazi
  • Plastic - Prefuse 73
  • Hillbilly Nation - Cowboy Crush
  • Let's Get Drunk and Be Somebody - Toby Keith

That's all for now

Thanks everyone and a big thanks to you Erin!
