Wakeboarding at Kipabiskau 2006

Pure Canada Magazine

The Kipabiskau Water Sports Club (KWSC) has been a strong contributor to the world of water sports for almost twenty-five years. The success of the organization is due to emphasis on grass roots programs for beginner and recreational participants, the continuing emergence of high caliber athletes, and every aspect in between.

Nestled in the beautiful Barrier River Valley in the north eastern parklands of Saskatchewan, Kipabiskau Regional Park is home to the KWSC and a small, yet very friendly community devoted to water skiing and wakeboarding. The explosion of wakeboarding since its development in the early 1990's now sees the sport's popularity rivaling that of other board sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding. Even with the rise in wakeboarding's popularity, a visit to "Kip" (as the locals have dubbed the lake) and you will see talented skiers ripping up the slalom course and literally soaring off the ski jump; then try it for yourself.

The KWSC has a busy season in 2006.

July 1st, enjoy Canada Day Celebrations on the beach with a water ski and wakeboard show as well as several other activities for the whole family organized by the Regional Park.

The KWSC will host their annual recreational water ski and wakeboard clinic July 4th - 7th.

The following week, July 12th-14th will be a camp for wakeboarders who wish to drastically improve their skills.

The wakeboard camp will be immediately proceeded by one of western Canada's best wakeboard tournaments July 14th - 16th; The 3rd Annual Flying Beaver Big Air Wakeboard Championship.

There will also be a water ski camp held July 19th - 21st.

In addition to these clinics, the KWSC will be available for private or group lessons throughout the summer upon request. All clinics and lessons will use high-end tournament ski and wakeboard boats, as well as friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, and certified coaches. The club also has all the equipment for every activity, all you need to bring is your bathing suit.
